The Breast Cancer Resource Center offers free, twice a month (1st & 3rd Saturday) support group sessions for women dealing with a diagnosis or treatment of any type of cancer.
Women meet in a safe, non-judgmental, and warm environment where women dealing with a diagnosis of any type of cancer can find comfort and support each other while learning tools to cope with treatment. This is a place where you can let go without the stress of “trying to be strong” for your family, friends, or significant person in your life.
The session is designed to provide comfort and encouragement through discussions on topics such as treatment issues; cancer recurrences and metastases; work, family, and relationship changes and challenges; plus personal success stories.
The support group is held at the BCRC. Kate Zeiss, a licensed social worker for over 25 years, facilitates the group session. Kate focuses on supporting clients through various stages and challenges of cancer diagnosis and long-term illness. She has extensive experience in oncology support, and palliative patient care. She works to catalze each person in identifying their strenghts and building coping abilities. Kate has also been instrumental in leading the BCRC retreat for women living with breast cancer.
