2021 Dorothy Shea Award recipient, Dr. Silvia Corral
Congratulations to Dr. Silvia Corral on the BCRC 2021 Dorothy Shea Award.
The Breast Cancer Resource Center of Santa Barbara is pleased to announce the presentation of the 2021 Dorothy Shea Award to Dr. Silvia Corral. The Dorothy Shea Award is the greatest honor given by the BCRC, recognizing a Volunteer who exemplifies Dorothy’s spirit and life of service to others.
Dorothy, a BCRC founding mother, was one of the individuals that in 1997 had a vision of a place that women could come to receive practical advice and emotional support addressing the realities of a breast cancer diagnosis. She provided BCRC with Its first home, completely rent free, for seven years. It is this spirit of giving and commitment that we recognize and honor in Dr. Corral for her generosity, dedication, and years of support to the BCRC.
Dr. Corral has been an advocate, and a source of encouragement to BCRC clients. She stays connected with clients through our virtual support group and enrichment programs such as LIVE LEARN LUNCH. She has been our teacher, an inspiration to our staff, and a vital part of the BCRC, and the cancer-care community.
