As we come to the end of this year’s National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we are hopeful and inspired. It has been a busy month filled with reminders that the BCRC is embraced and supported by an amazing community in Santa Barbara county and beyond. As an organization we are honored to be part of a dedicated network of cancer care for our community.

October is always an important opportunity to bring greater awareness about breast cancer for the purpose of early detection education, and to show support, offer encouragement, and to have important conversations about research, treatments and how the larger community of breast cancer care works together towards a common goal. We are here to support individuals facing breast cancer so they may heal and ultimately thrive.

BCRC launched into Breast Cancer Awareness Month with PINK WEEK. A true testament to the power of our cancer care community coming together. This inaugural virtual event covered information on everything from early detection, mammograms, research, living with metastatic cancer, integrative therapies, nutrition, and many messages of hope and support.  Over the week we heard from Doctors, local business owners, scientists, nutritionists, philanthropists, thrivers and family members who have supported or lost loved ones–everyone with a unique purpose, but together with a common intention.

BCRC is here to offer support, encouragement, community, and a compassionate presence for every individual facing breast cancer in Santa Barbara. We are honored to do this work and we are inspired by the generous support of our donors and partners in Santa Barbara’s breast cancer care community. We are grateful to all of the doctors, nurses, caregivers, scientists, who are there from diagnosis to treatments, reconstructive surgery, survivorship, and working towards a future cure.

This beautiful performance of “You Got the Love” by Lois Mahalia from PINK WEEK 2020 seems like the perfect way to honor this memorable Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For our courageous BCRC clients and our dedicated community of breast cancer care providers–you got the love!
