Yoga encourages one to relax, slow the breath and focus on the present. It can also lower breathing and heart rate, decrease blood pressure, lower cortisol levels, and increase blood flow to vital organs. A regular yoga practice can help one achieve tranquility of the mind and create a sense of well-being, feelings of relaxation, improved self-confidence. Yoga also helps to balance energy which is vital to the function of the immune system.
