Since 1997 the Breast Cancer Resource Center has acted as a clearinghouse of information, personal support through peer-counseling, and referral service conduit for women diagnosed with breast cancer or dealing with benign breast health issues. The BCRC has been a vital community resource in helping clients navigate and understand the disease management process and bridging gaps in emotional care and education.
We strive to make our client’s lives a little more comfortable by providing a caring human touch, peer-counseling and emotional support, resource materials, a free lending library, and practical programs and necessities that help patients undergoing cancer treatment understand and cope with breast cancer so that they may get through their journey, and on toward well being and survivorship.
The center is a welcoming home and safe place offering comfort and encouragement where you will be greeted by women who can truly say, "I understand how you feel; we are here to help you." As a newly diagnosed person faced with an overwhelming mix of emotions and decisions, you will find a caring network of people ready to answer questions and help you obtain pertinent information so that you are better able to make informed decisions and advocate for your breast health and treatment. Many of our volunteer peer counselors are breast cancer survivors who understand the rigors of cancer treatment and the hope of tomorrow.
Our daily services include access to a remarkable library resource, one-on-one peer-counseling, support groups, a buddy mentor program, and a suite of complementary care & Integrative Therapy services such as Meditation, Reflexology, Reiki, Art Therapy, and private Sexuality & Intimacy counseling with a registered nurse. Outreach educational programs about breast health, early detection screening and breast cancer are also a core part of our services and commitment to making our community a better place to live.
One hundred percent of our income comes from generous contributions from individual donors, businesses, and grant donations from private foundations. We receive no governmental funding. Please join your community in supporting our efforts by making a financial contribution or volunteering your time.
With your support, the Breast Cancer Resource Center continues to provide daily services, access to an amazing resource library, free educational community lectures, support groups, and a suite of complementary care and integrative therapy services.
